Description

ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD Features

The ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD from Blackmagic Design is a high-definition live production switcher teeming with sophisticated features. It's designed with 20 standard converted 3G‑SDI inputs and 12 independent 3G‑SDI auxiliary outputs, USB webcam output, a SuperSource processor, chroma keyers, digital video effects (DVEs), media players, multiviewer, built-in talkback, and a professional Fairlight audio mixer with EQ and dynamics.

The switcher features a multitude of broadcast-quality transitions such as mix, dip, wipe, etc., all customisable from the system control menus. There's a powerful DVE processor for generating seamless transitions, enabling innovative video effects like freezing a picture off-screen and revealing a new video underneath. With two independent DVEs, graphics can be repositioned, and picture-in-picture compositions created in real time. Coupled with the SuperSource processor, it provides an additional multi-layer visual effects switcher ideal for picture-in-picture displays during interviews.

The ATEM Constellation has configurable multiview outputs, offering up to 16, 13, 10, 7, or 4 up view, including program, preview, inputs, media players, downstream keyers (DSK), and clean feed. The built-in talkback feature ensures seamless crew communication, supporting 5-pin XLR and RJ12 connectors for compatibility with standard talkback systems like ClearCom or RTS and even facilitating voiceovers via program mix.

The ATEM Constellation incorporates a built-in media pool, allowing instant playback of broadcast-quality RGBA graphics and animations via its media players. It can store up to 40 still images and 400 frame animations. It also features advanced keyers for superior chroma or luminance keying, ideal for news or virtual set work, with precise controls for edge and flare.

The device is highly compatible with all HD video sources, thanks to its 20 multi-rate 3G-SDI input connections. The built-in Fairlight audio mixer supports all SDI inputs, offering a 6-band parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, noise gate, and expander on each input. For a seamless switching experience, the ATEM Software Control Panel, which can be run on Mac or Windows, is free, enabling multiple users to connect via Ethernet and work simultaneously on different event aspects.
